Welcome to the HELP ME! page.  Our goal at Voodoo Solar is to provide customers with something that is hard to find in the Alternative Energy arena; easy access to affordable, experience-based advice.  I can design an off-grid system for you, offer information to help you plan it yourself, or assist with technical questions you may have about setting up or troubleshooting an existing system.  I'm also available to answer generalized questions about off-grid and rural living.  If you have a question that needs an answer, I'm ready to give it my best shot in a patient, friendly manner!

I offer a lot of personal experience and knowledge that has proven helpful to many people, and I keep a substantial volume of product information and resource material handy.  If I don't know the exact answer, I can usually find it. It is often true that your local electrician is very busy, expensive, and doesn't really know much about alternative energy systems or the components that go into them.  They are rarely a good source of information for alternative energy systems (yes, I've helped quite a few of them on technical questions).  That said, you need to understand that I'm not a licensed electrician in any State and I can't give you definitive answers regarding the National Electrical Code, or State and Local codes that may be in force in your area.  Chances are that I'll never personally see your energy system and therefore there is some limitation to the depth that I can give you from a remote location.  The same would be true for anyone, regardless of qualifications.

I can help you figure out if generating your own power is the right choice for you, about how much it will cost for the system you will need and what sort of components will be required.  I can help you to diagnose problems or to make the critical set-up adjustments that will keep your system working smoothly.  I can advise you about the common mistakes people make when they are starting out and how to avoid them.  Some retailers will sell you as much equipment as they are able without a care for your success or failure.  I can help you avoid that trap too.

FREE CUSTOMER SUPPORT:  I want everyone to be happy with their purchases and I always offer reasonable (but not unlimited) free support for purchases that you make from me.  This varies from case to case and according to the size of your purchase.  For instance, it is sensible to offer more free support to a customer who buys a large complex system and needs help setting it up, than to someone who buys a $40 kill-a-watt meter and can't seem to understand its use after reasonable explanation.  Every customer will receive a proportional share of my technical support time, but that amount will remain at my discretion.
Support for products purchased elsewhere will be happily provided at a reasonable fee.
