Solar Panels!
Solar panels (or solar modules) are the number one renewable energy
choice for most off grid and gri-tied applications. An ideal site
for solar panels is one that has a totally unobstructed view of the
Southern horizon, stretching also to East and West. That is
perhaps a complicated way of saying that from the solar array location,
you
should be able to see the sun from dawn to dusk with no buildings,
trees, or other obstructions getting in the way. Even a
little
bit of shade will reduce power production. In practice this
is
sometimes difficult to achieve, especially in forested areas.
From a practical standpoint, the earliest and latest hours of
the
day are less important for solar energy production, so it is reasonable
to allow for some shading
during those times as long as the view to the South is totally clear.
In any case, the amount of electrical power
available from any given
array
is proportional to the number of hours of direct sun it gets, both
summer and winter. Make c areful
observations at your chosen array location at different times of the
year.
Sometimes moving the array just a few feet can make a big
difference when obstructions are present.
Solar
panel prices and models change quickly and often, so be sure to give me
a call or email for the most current prices. Some retailers offer
a "guaranteed" price for their panels. That just means that the
price is jacked-up enough to account for market fluctuations. It's
impossible
for
me to keep prices continuously updated, especially since I shop around
to get you the best deal. With solar panel prices on the decline, chances are that the current price will be lower than shown- call me!

SOLARWORLD
offers one of the finest monocrystalline solar panels in the
photovoltaic market.
The
175 watt panel is a real workhorse, and suitable for both off-grid and
grid-tie systems. The higher voltage profile is excellent for
efficient battery charging in hot climates. These high
quality
modules are fully encapsulated, tempered glass face, with sturdy
aluminum frames. Connections are
easily made with snap-lock MC4 connectors at the end of installed

These modules

Solarworld is moving its production toward the grid-tie market, so
future versions of their solar modules will be of the higher voltage
variety. These will still work well for off-grid systems when
voltage-matching charge controllers such as Outback and Apollo are
used, but not compatible with lower-priced controllers like the Xantrex
C-series. If you need 24-volt Solarworld panels to match an
