Solar- Morningstar Charge Controllers
RETURN TO VOODOO SOLAR
Morningstar makes a very wide variety of charge controllers to suit
nearly any situation. Tristar 45 and Tristar 60 are high
capacity controllers that use pulse width modulation (PWM) technology
to maximize energy supplied to your batteries. Don't confuse
this with MPPT, which is a superior technology that actually boosts
solar array current (such as Outback and Apollo controllers).
They are also capable of being used as diversion controllers
(wind, hydro) and load controllers. Both Tristar models will
be available as MPPT controllers in the Fall of 2009.
Generally, Morningstar controllers are engineered to provide high
value, with many models built for very specific applications.
If you need a charge controller or lighting controller for an
unusual job, chances are good that Morningstar makes the right model
for it.
The Sunguard has been a popular unit for small, outdoor applications
for many years. Rated 4.5 amps @ 12 volts, it is completely
sealed and non-adjustable. Durability and low cost makes it a
good choice for small battery charging and maintenance applications.
