Voodoo Solar --
Solar Panel Wire, Cables, and Accessories

For proper solar panel installation, you should use the right wire.  Only UV resistant wire should be used because other types will quickly degrade in the harsh outdoor environment and cause problems. Correct wire type is essential for passing electrical inspections.

MC4 AND TYCO CABLES are made from a single UV-resistant, #10 AWG wire, with a locking male connector on one end and a locking female connector on the other.  Designed to be cut in half to connect a solar panel to the combiner box.  Standard length is 30 feet ..... $35.  Other lengths available below.
  MC4 solar panel connection cable

TYCO CONNECTOR, 10 AWG wire, locking connectors
30' TYCO cables
$35

MC3 CABLES are very similar to MC4 cables, except they use the older, non-locking connector on each end.  30-foot length ..... $35.

PRE-MADE TWIN CABLES are built for J-BOX solar panels. Two color-coded #10 AWG wires in a UV resistant outer sheath.  Wire ends have soldered connectors, and weatherproof fittings are included for easy connection of Kyocera modules and others with similar junction boxes.
36" length with connectors on both ends for connecting modules to each other ..... $20
10-foot length with connectors on one end for connecting modules to a combiner box ..... $22

BULK WIRE is
#10 AWG sunlight resistant stranded copper with thick insulation.  Sold by the foot.
Single wire is available in red and black, you get one foot of EACH for ..... $1

TWIN BULK WIRE is TWO #10 AWG wires (red and black) together in a sunlight resistant jacket.   Sold by the foot ..... $1

WEATHERPROOF FITTINGS  for older-style junction boxes.  These fit in a standard knock-out and tighten securely around the wire to prevent the entry of moisture, insects, etc. ..... $3 each.

GROUNDING LUGS screw to aluminum frame of solar panel for attachment of the ground wire.  All modules should be grounded, and these lugs help you comply with National Electrical Code requirements.
$4 each, or bag of 10 for ..... $35.
Delta lightning arrestors for solar arrays and electronic equipment

LIGHTNING ARRESTORS come in different styles depending on the application.  All models are $35 each.  Just specify what part of the system you need to protect and I will set you up with the right model.  Installation instructions.
Solar and wind power systems are frequent victims of nearby lightning strikes.  While nothing can completely guarantee safety from lightning damage, an arrestor is very likely to save your expensive equipment.  You should certainly have a lightning arrestor on your array's combiner box, and placing one at the charge control end is a good idea too.  One arrestor will protect both input and output of most inverters.  A well pump is another good candidate for lightning protection, since many pumps are destroyed by lightning strikes every year.  Wind turbines are especially vulnerable!!
