Battery Watering Systems from Flow-Rite
|
Periodic
battery service is essential to the health of flooded lead-acid
batteries. Adding water to the electrolyte is the primary job
in
a typical monthly routine, a task that is tedious and therefore all too
often procrastinated. A single point watering system turns this
troublesome
chore into a breeze! A special valve fits into the filler
neck of
each cell, replacing the original battery cap. The Millennium
Plus SPW system
works by replacing the battery's
existing vent caps with patented valves that are interconnected with
tubing, allowing the user to fill all cells of the battery from a
single remote location. Each valve independently shuts off water flow
to the cell when the proper electrolyte level is reached, allowing
the
batteries to be filled perfectly every time without even having to look
at the batteries.
This
results in having each cell filled to the optimum level, with no chance
of battery contamination and drastically reduced hazard potential to
YOU, since you don't need to open a single cell cap! No
funnels
or flashlights, no spill or mess, no back strain from bending over your
batteries, and no direct exposure to open cells and electrolyte.
Each Millennium Plus valve has a small cap to allow insertion of
a special battery
hydrometer so you can still monitor specific gravity without the need
to remove a valve. The new built-in level indicator tells you at a glance if cell electrolyte is
low.
How does it all work? Starting with
a fully
charged battery, simply connect the small Handv Pump to the system,
drop
the hose into a container of distilled water and squeeze to pump!
When all of the cells are filled to the perfect level, all of
the
valves will close and no more water can be pumped. Disconnect
the
pump and you're finished! It really is that easy.
Flow-Rite
products are engineered for all the major battery brands, so the fit is
perfect, the installation is trouble-free, and the electrolyte is
maintained exactly to the battery manufacturer's specification.
A
single point watering system is more than just a convenience.
Maintaining the electrolyte at the proper level is essential
to
getting the longest life from your battery investment, and making that
chore into a simple and easy task means that you are more likely to do
it on a regular schedule as you should. Flow-Rite systems
make
battery watering fast, easy and safe.

The Flow-Rite
Millennium Plus valve for HUP Solar One batteries has all of the great
features that have made Flow-Rite an industry leader in battery
watering systems, PLUS their exclusive visual indicator. You can
confirm that no battery cells are below the minimum electrolyte level
with just a glance. This adds an extra measure of assurrance and peace
of mind that your expensive battery set is being well cared for.
Batteries stay cleaner both inside and out with the Millennium Plus
system. There is never a need to open a cell during routine
maintenance, reducing the chance of cell contamination and protecting
the user from hazardous exposure to electrolyte. These valves greatly
reduce misting while the battery is gassing, thus reducing corrosion
and mess on terminals and cell tops.
Treat you batteries to a Flow-Rite SPW system! They will reward you with longer life and reduced maintenance time.
YES! We use the Millennium SPW system on our Hup batteries here at Voodoo Solar. Photos below.

Flow-Rite
Millennium
Plus series single-point watering systems are now available for Hup
Solar
One batteries, making the best renewable energy battery even better!
There are several new improvements in the Flow-Rite valve,
including
an electrolyte level-indicator. Now you can tell at a glance if
any
cells are low, and also confirm that every cell has been filled.
Single point watering systems are also available for most
other
brands such as Trojan and Surrette. Millennium Plus
valves
are date-coded and carry a 5-year warranty with the manufacturer.
An electrically powered pump and tank are also available for
large battery systems, or when hand-pumping is not desirable.

Adding
SPW (single-point watering) to
our Hup Solar One batteries here at Voodoo Solar was an easy job!
The only difficult part was doing a thorough cleanup of the
batteries and connections. Since these batteries have been in
service for 5 years, it was a good opportunity to remove and clean the
cell-interconnect bars and wire brush all the terminals.
After everything was cleaned, installing the Flow-Rite SPW
was a snap, and took less than 30 minutes. Here are some photos
to show how the installation
looks on a 24-volt Solar One battery set.

Note the fill connector at the end of the hose at lower right.
This connector snaps into a mating connector that is attached
to the pump unit (not shown). Simply attach the pump and
you're ready to water your batteries without hazard or mess!

Hup Solar One batteries come equipped with a green "flip-top" cap that
is easily removed to allow installation of the Flow-Rite valve unit on
each cell. The valve ensures that the water is filled to the
precise factory specification.

The red cap comes with the SPW kit and simply closes the unused hose
connectors. The small blue cap allows you to insert the hose
of a Flow-Rite hydrometer so you can take specific gravity measurements
without removing the filler valve. Any hydrometer could be
used if equipped with a filler hose small enough to fit in the small
hole.
Flow-Rite
single point watering systems are available for most other battery
brands at similar prices. Contact Voodoo Solar to get the
right
system to fit your batteries!
